Pill Web Series Review: Short Episodes, Big Impact

Pill Web Series Review: It met all my expectations, even more than Mirzapur Season 3.

Riteish Deshmukh in a serious role? Whenever Riteish Deshmukh takes on serious roles, like in "Ek Villain" or his recent Marathi movie "VED", he doesn't fail to impress.

Keeping up that seriousness, JioCinema has a new show called "Pill." This series is based on a company called Forever Cure Pharma and its illegal activities versus some common people.

I've watched the series on JioCinema premium. Here's how my experience was.

Pill Review

There are 8 episodes in total. Except for the last one, which is an hour-long, the rest are only 30 to 35 minutes each. So, it will take you around four and a half hours to watch the series.

To be honest, I didn’t even realize how quickly the first five episodes went by.

The first episode is mostly a build-up, but from the second episode, with the story and character development, you will become emotionally attached and won’t feel like leaving the series in between.

Think about it, they’ve raised such a significant topic that after watching it, you might start worrying if the medicines you or your family members are taking are safe. This doesn’t mean all pharma industries are like this; don't worry, it’s a fictional story. It shows how to avoid being misled about medicines and highlights how vast the business of medicines is in India.

Show me one house where no one has ever taken medicine. People keep extra medicines for cold, cough, fever, and painkillers at home.

Imagine if out of 140 crore people, only 50 crore households have just one painkiller costing two rupees each; you can do the math. I’m only talking about painkillers. Many diseases require daily medication, and many companies are making these medicines.

This series is about a pharma company that, to stay ahead in the market, releases fake and substandard medicines without proper clinical trials, causing harm and even death to common people. Standing against this is Doctor Prakash, played by Riteish Deshmukh, who is a drug inspector or a medical authority in the web series. What a performance by Riteish!

Honestly, I prefer Riteish in serious roles over comic ones.

The episodes are short and engaging, so you won’t notice the time passing.

I just want to say that this is the most relatable series for every Indian who has taken a medical pill at least once in their life. Plus, some dialogues hit me, like "Heroes only win in movies, in reality, the world is run by villains" and "Going to bed hungry is a sin if there's a father at home." Too good!

Among the few series I've watched, I would surely recommend "Pill." It met all my expectations, even more than "Mirzapur" season 3. This series engages, entertains, and has no vulgarity or brutal violence, making it a pure family drama show.

The climax was a bit predictable, and the last episode could have been just half an hour, but they did well not to include a song.

All the actors have done a fantastic job. And since Riteish Deshmukh is in the series, there has to be some comic entertainment. His chemistry with his wife is something you’ll enjoy.

Conclusion

Overall, I’d give this series 3.5 out of 5 stars. Watch it on JioCinema Premium.
